Police have recovered the body of a young man kept on a pyre from Konhara Ghat of Nagar police station area of Vaishali district. During this, police have also detained a woman. The deceased has been identified as Ranjeet Kumar (25), son of Rajendra Rai, resident of Jahangirpur Shyam of Chandpura police station area. Police is interrogating the arrested woman. Meanwhile, the post-mortem of the body was conducted in Sadar Hospital.
Regarding the incident, the father of the deceased said that Ranjit Kumar had been living in Yusufpur, Hajipur for about three years. He had married a woman three years ago. Ranjit used to run his household by driving a Scorpio. On Friday at around 11 o’clock we had gone to offer milk on the occasion of Nag Panchami. During this time my son called from Mumbai that a woman had called and informed that Ranjit Kumar had died in a road accident. As soon as we reached Hajipur after getting the information of the incident, preparations were being made to burn the body by decorating it on the pyre at Konhara Ghat. After that the information of the incident was given to the city police station officer.
On receiving the information of the incident, the police reached the spot and sent the body to Sadar Hospital for postmortem. At the same time, the police has arrested a woman. The arrested woman has been identified as Anita Devi, a resident of Raghopur. The father of the deceased said that the said woman wanted to destroy the evidence by killing my son and burning the body in a hurry. Ranjit Kumar was the second among four brothers. The elder son works in Mumbai while Ranjit’s two younger brothers live in the village. The family members are in a bad condition, crying in Hajipur Sadar Hospital. At present, the city police station is investigating the whole matter.
